Dear President Obama, 

I have enclosed for your review a letter I have forwarded to Nathan Deal Governor of the State of Georgia as regards the plight of my husband and family. As the contents of the letter clearly illustrate, my husband has been subjected to inhumane and discriminatory treatment. What I find most disconcerting is that his treatment is the norm and not the exception. 

As we see in the media and in life in general, the mass incarceration of African-American men in our country is epidemic and my husband is clearly an example that background, education, service to one’s country and community foster no mercy or consideration in the State of Georgia. 

I am pleading as a wife in the midst of great turmoil that you read this letter with these things in mind. See who my husband is and what he has accomplished. Then decide if the crime warrants the degree of punishment. Would it not be better to release this man so that he may fully participate in seeking exoneration and to once again contribute his knowledge and expertise to his community and return to the family who so loves him? 

If there is anything you can do to assist me in my efforts, communication with Governor Deal or by whatever means at your disposal, please know that the Malloy family, friends and colleagues will be forever in your debt.
